The Zenithink ZT-180 is a "Tablet" computer that operates on Google's Android system (version 2.2). This can be the same operating system that's used on many so known as "smart phones".

The ZT-180 resembles an Apple iPad but the screen may be a little narrower - not a bad thing in itself as the ZT-180's screen size - width vs length - ratio is better suited to movie format viewing than Apple's iPad.

It sells for about 1/3 the price of an iPad (retail Montreal price of the least expensive iPad). Of course, it's not an iPad. The scrolling is less smooth, the resistive touch screen not as responsive (or sometimes too sensitive - very annoying), etc. However it does afford the chance to try out a pad computer type device on the cheap. This can be a major advantage.

Firmware upgrades for the ZT-180 are accessible and they have typically helped improve the device's responsiveness. The firmware upgrades have additionally added the Android Market app, something that earlier versions didn't have shipped from the factory. So, if you receive an earlier production model, you'll be able to upgrade it yourself.

The device sports a mini USB port as well as one for a micro SD card. Such ports aren't available on the iPad. Wi-Fi is a simple connect and works fine.
